Czech motorway vignette – Easy online purchase

The electronic motorway vignette system has been in operation in the Czech Republic since 2021, making it quick and easy to purchase a Czech motorway vignette online.

Under the Czech e-vignette system, the price of the motorway vignette also depends on the vehicle’s type of propulsion. Vehicles powered by natural gas or biomethane are eligible for a discounted rate, while plug-in hybrids with CO₂ emissions of no more than 50 g/km have been subject to a rate equivalent to 25% of the standard fee since 1 March 2024. Fully electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles may use toll roads free of charge if the applicable conditions are met; however, drivers of foreign-registered vehicles must apply for this exemption in advance.

The Czech e-vignette must always be purchased before entering a toll motorway section. The Czech motorway vignette can be easily purchased on europe-vignette.eu by bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The vignette’s validity and expiry date can therefore be checked at any time, making online purchase highly convenient!

Czech Vignette Information - Validity, Types and Prices

The Czech Republic has an extensive and continuously developing motorway network, with a total length now exceeding 1,500 kilometres. A significant proportion of Czech motorways are subject to tolls, so before using toll motorway sections, vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tonnes must have a valid Czech motorway vignette. However, vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes are not required to purchase a motorway vignette; instead, they must pay a distance-based electronic toll through the MYTO CZ system.

Czech Motorway Vignette Prices 2026

In the Czech Republic, motorway vignette prices and the rules governing their adjustment are determined each year by a notice issued by the Ministry of Transport. Accordingly, Czech motorway vignette prices for 2026 are available at the following rates:

Czech motorway vignettes by fuel type

Czech motorway vignettes are categorised according to the vehicle’s type of propulsion and environmental classification, with the aim of ensuring that more environmentally friendly vehicles pay lower road-use fees. In 2026, Czech motorway vignettes are available for the following fuel types:

  • Standard fuel
  • Natural gas - CNG and LNG
  • Biomethane
  • Plug-in hybrid

Czech motorway vignette for vehicles using standard fuel

Under the Czech motorway vignette system, the standard-fuel vehicle category primarily includes conventional petrol- and diesel-powered vehicles under 3.5 tonnes. LPG-powered vehicles also fall into this category, as do hybrids with CO₂ emissions exceeding 50 g/km.

Czech motorway vignette for natural gas-powered vehicles

Vehicles powered by CNG (compressed natural gas) or LNG (liquefied natural gas) are eligible for a discounted motorway vignette in the Czech Republic. These vehicles are subject to a rate equivalent to 50% of the standard motorway vignette fee, and the discount also applies if they use another type of fuel in addition to natural gas.

It is important to note that LPG-powered vehicles do not fall into this category, so the standard fuel rate applies to them!

Czech motorway vignette for biomethane-powered vehicles

Vehicles powered by biomethane are also eligible for a discounted motorway vignette in the Czech Republic, including vehicles that use biomethane in combination with another type of fuel.

Czech motorway vignette for plug-in hybrid vehicles

In the Czech Republic, plug-in hybrid vehicles are eligible for the lowest motorway vignette rate, provided that the vehicle’s combined CO₂ emissions do not exceed 50 g/km. Such vehicles are charged only 25% of the standard vignette fee, while hybrids exceeding 50 g/km must pay the full, non-discounted rate!

Czech motorway vignettes by validity period

As in other European countries, both shorter- and longer-term motorway vignettes are available in the Czech Republic, and their price depends not only on the length of the validity period but also on the vehicle’s type of propulsion. When purchasing a Czech vignette online, the following types are available:

Czech 1-day vignette

The Czech 1-day motorway vignette has the shortest validity period and, as in other countries, is valid for the selected calendar day on all roads in the Czech Republic where a motorway vignette is required.

The start of the 1-day vignette’s validity depends on the time of purchase. It can be selected to become valid on the day of purchase or on any chosen future date.

  • Validity on the day of purchase: if the start of the vignette’s validity is set to the same day as the purchase, the vignette will be valid from the time the purchase is confirmed until 23:59 on that same day.

Example: if a 1-day vignette is purchased on 23 September at 15:26, it will remain valid until 23:59 on 23 September.

  • Advance purchase: if a future date is selected as the start of validity on the day of purchase, the vignette will be valid from 00:00 on the selected day until 23:59 on the same day.

Example: if a 1-day vignette is purchased on 16 August, but 25 August is selected as the start date, the vignette will be valid from 00:00 on 25 August until 23:59 on 25 August.

Czech 10-day vignette

The Czech 10-day motorway vignette is also valid on all motorway sections in the Czech Republic where a vignette is required, and it can likewise be purchased with two different validity start options.

  • Validity on the day of purchase: if the validity period begins on the day of purchase, the vignette is valid from the day of purchase (the first day) and for the following 9 consecutive calendar days, until 23:59 on the final day.

Example: if a 10-day vignette is purchased on 10 July at 12:23, it will expire on 19 July at 23:59!

  • Advance purchase: if a future date is selected as the start of validity on the day of purchase, the vignette will be valid from 00:00 on the selected day (the first day) and for the following 9 consecutive calendar days, until 23:59 on the final day.

Example: if a 10-day vignette is purchased on 4 August, but 10 August is selected as the start date, the vignette will be valid from 00:00 on 10 August until 23:59 on 19 August.

Czech 30-day vignette

The Czech 30-day motorway vignette is valid on all motorway sections in the Czech Republic where a vignette is required and, like the other types, can be purchased either with validity starting on the day of purchase or in advance!

  • Validity on the day of purchase: if the validity period begins on the day of purchase, the vignette is valid from the day of purchase (the first day) and for the following 29 consecutive calendar days, until 23:59 on the final day.

Example: if a 30-day vignette is purchased on 14 August at 12:23, it will expire on 12 September at 23:59!

  • Advance purchase: the vignette is valid from the calendar day selected by the customer until 23:59 on the corresponding day of the following month.

Example: if a 30-day Czech vignette is purchased on 20 July, but 14 August is selected as the start date, the 30-day vignette will be valid from 00:00 on 14 August until 23:59 on 12 September.

Czech annual vignette

The annual vignette is valid on all toll roads in the Czech Republic and can be purchased with either immediate or deferred validity. However, unlike in many other countries, the Czech annual vignette is not valid for a specific calendar year, but instead provides 365 days of road-use entitlement.

Please note that the Czech annual motorway vignette is not available for purchase on our website!

Attention! When purchasing in advance, the first day of the vignette’s validity can be set to a date no more than 30 days in the future. This means, for example, that it is not possible to purchase a Czech motorway vignette in May with a validity start date in September!

Motorway Vignette Checks in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, electronic motorway vignettes are checked by the Police of the Czech Republic (Policie České Republiky) and the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic (Celní správa České republiky). An electronic vignette system has been in operation since 2021, and checks are carried out based on the vehicle’s registration number:

  • by police and customs vehicles equipped with automatic number plate recognition cameras;
  • using camera systems connected to motorway monitoring gates;
  • through on-site checks at rest areas and car parks.

After reading the vehicle’s registration number, the system checks the electronic database to determine whether the vehicle has a valid Czech motorway vignette at the time of inspection. According to official Czech information, fines for driving without a vignette are imposed by the police or customs authorities during an on-site physical inspection.

Motorway Vignette Fines in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, it is also not advisable to use toll motorways without a valid motorway vignette. With the help of number plate recognition cameras and police or customs checks, it can quickly be established whether a vehicle has a valid vignette.

If the driver of a vehicle that is not exempt is checked on a toll road section without a valid motorway vignette, the on-the-spot fine may be as high as CZK 5,000.

Offence
Amount of fine
Use of a toll motorway without a valid vignetteOn-the-spot proceedings, up to CZK 5,000
Use of a toll motorway without a valid vignette*Administrative proceedings, up to CZK 20,000
Unauthorised declaration of toll exemptionUp to CZK 100,000

*Administrative proceedings may be initiated if, during the on-the-spot procedure, the driver does not accept the on-the-spot fine and/or disputes the offence. In such cases, the conditions for concluding the matter on the spot are not met, so the case may be referred to administrative offence proceedings, where the statutory maximum fine is CZK 20,000.

Czech Motorway Vignette Purchase

In the Czech Republic, the motorway vignette is linked to the vehicle’s registration number and can be purchased in the following ways:

  • Online e-vignette purchase, available as a digital product,
  • A digital vignette can also be purchased at physical points of sale.

The Czech motorway vignette must always be purchased before entering a toll road, making online purchase the quickest and easiest option.

When purchasing a Czech e-vignette online, particular attention should be paid to entering the following information correctly:

  1. Select the vehicle’s fuel type: standard fuel, natural gas, biomethane, plug-in hybrid.
  2. Enter the registration details correctly: country of registration (the country where the vehicle is registered) and registration number.
  3. Enter the validity period accurately: whether purchasing a vignette valid from the day of purchase or for a future date, it is always advisable to make sure before departure that the motorway vignette will also be valid on the day of travel.

Entering any of this information incorrectly may result in a fine, as incorrect details mean that the vehicle does not have a valid motorway vignette. It is therefore recommended to check the information several times during the purchase process.

After entering the vignette details, personal information must be provided. This is important so that the notification email, confirmation and invoice for the successful motorway vignette purchase are sent to the correct email address.

Please note: Do not enter a toll road section without successful confirmation!
